Data Design Interactive announced the development of Battle Rage: The Robot Wars on Wii, claiming it as the “first real 3D” console game in which gamers wear a pair of glasses to simulate three dimensions – although, we remember playing Rad Racer with glasses on NES years ago.

“DDI will lead the games industry with 3D support planned in all its future titles,” the company said in a press release.  “While some companies are looking at expensive 3D technology, requiring specialized and expensive TV’s and headsets, Data Design Interactive has continued with its accessible family friendly pricing, and found solutions through proven technology and software rather than hardware.”

DDI did not state whether the game will come with the tinted paper glasses on its February 20 release date, however, playing the game in the standard visual mode will be an option as well.

Battle Rage: The Robot Wars is a third-person shooter where you control and destroy giant robots using long-range weapons and short-ranged melee attacks.

The game seems to be a blend of the fast-action Custom Robo series and heavy-assaulting MechWarrior franchise. If you’re a fan of either, you may want to keep a robotic eye on Battle Rage.

mech game or no, its always fun to blow shit up. this game might be fun with the wii controls.
