Yes, you read it right. Months before the Japanese release of Dragon Quest IX, Dragon Quest X is already being given time in the spotlight. In a recent Japanese event intended to further hype-up the already anticipated Dragon Quest IX, we learned (via Joystiq) two interesting tidbits of information. The first is that Dragon Quest IX has an official release date, at least in Japan. The ninth numbered entry into the series will release on March 28, 2009. No word yet of a North American date.
Second, in an announcement by series creator Yuji Horii, we learned that Dragon Quest X will be developed for the Nintendo Wii, making it the first current-generation console to host the franchise – excluding certain series spin-offs.
Considering the last two numbered titles – Dragon Warrior VII and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King – were released on the PS1 and PS2 respectively, gaining back the franchise is a big win for Nintendo.
sweet deal. i love the dragon quest series, and the one they have out for wii now, dragon quest swords was ok but nothing on the must have list.
