from gameinformer.com:
Via the Vancouver Sun, we recently learned that Radical Entertainment will be laying-off a large chunk of their employees – around 100 individuals – which accounts for almost half of its staff. The reason is traced back to a decision by parent company Activision Blizzard to cut the number of projects Radical is working on in half – resulting in the drastic staff reductions.
"Activision Blizzard is committed to making the best games possible and has elected at this time to reduce the number of titles that Radical is developing from four games to two," Leah Rubin, Radical's vice-president of human resources, said in an email to the Sun. "Therefore, we will be proportionately reducing the size of our studio."
The move was not totally unexpected. With the recent joining of Activision and Vivendi – forming Activision Blizzard – it was made publicly known that if projects or studios did not fit within the new goals of the powerhouse, they might be looked at with scrutiny. Tension mounted two weeks ago when Activision Blizzard was far less cryptic about their intentions, saying that they would be “realigning staffing at both Radical Entertainment and High Moon Studios.” No numbers on exactly how many High Moon employees will be let go have been released as of yet. All these changes come on top of the decision for Activision Blizzard to drop publishing several titles such as Ghostbusters and Brutal Legends in order to focus on more high profile games such as the new Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and Prototype.
One thing is sure, Activision Blizzard brings change.
ill say it again, dropping ghostbusters and brutal legend for crash and spyro is bad. bad enough it seems. like they care. as long as WoW runs, activision blizzard will keep doing stupid shit like this. BOO!!
please excuse any spelling errors i have made in this post. i blame WoW because WoW is lame. yes i said it, WoW is lame!
