While this is NOT what I was expecting I will agree that it is better than a hard drive. An external HD would be over half the size of a wii to start with. I cannot for the life of me think of one single external perephrial that has sold well for a console. Lets go through the list of failures:
-Super Nintedo CD... never saw the light of day
-Sega CD... Prompt failure
-Sega 32X... same story.
-N64 DD... first failure of a hard disk perephrial
-Any camera ever... Even Xbox's Live Vision with it's fantastic support is still a failure in my book
-Speaking of Xbox, HD-DVD drive
I'm sure I could list more, but you get the picture. I suppose utilizing an already existing internal device is acceptable. Of course from the way Reggie was talking about it I was expecting to see some Nintendo magic, not something as mundane as this.
